Here is what you need to know to plan your trip to our beautiful country.  Please read through all the information thoroughly and feel free to contact us if you need any further information.

Malaria

Please consult your local doctor. We are born and raised in South Africa and have never taken malaria medication, which is not to say we have no malaria but through the last 2 decades we’ve had clients saying they will never take malaria medication again because it makes them feel drowsy and they have returned year after year without it. Please take note that we will take no responsibility if you decide not to take the medication.

Immunization

No immunization is required when entering into South Africa.

Inoculation against Yellow Fever might be required for visitors from some African countries. Please enquire from your Professional Hunter.

Hepatitis A: the CDC recommends this vaccine because you can get Hepatitis A through contaminated food or water in South Africa, regardless of where you are eating or staying.

Flights

Flights depart from either JFK New York, Atlanta GA or Dulles Washington and arrive at O.R. Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg International Airport). A connecting flight will be required from O.R Tambo to Gateway International, Polokwane.  NB:  The reverse will apply upon departure.

JFK / Johannesburg:
Flights arrive in the morning around 8am. This will allow you to take a connecting flight a little later to Polokwane where Wild Game Safaris will collect you upon your arrival.

To arrange your return trip please book the 12 noon flight from Polokwane to O.R. Tambo, this will get you to Johannesburg in time for your USA flight. Please do not book the 3pm or 6pm flight out. If by any chance something goes wrong you will miss your entire flight back to the US which will require a new ticket.

Atlanta / Johannesburg:
Flights arrive late afternoon around 5pm. Wild Game Safaris will arrange a guest house where you can spend the night, and get a good nights sleep. The next morning you will catch the 10h30 flight out to Polokwane where Wild Game Safaris will collect you. Arrival at the lodge is by 2pm, this leaves you enough time to shoot rifle/bow and go out for an afternoon hunting shift.

To arrange your return trip please book the 12 noon flight from Polokwane to O.R. Tambo, this will get you to Johannesburg in time for your USA flight. Please do not book the 3pm or 6pm flight out. If by any chance there is any delay you will miss your entire flight back to the US which will require a new ticket.

Departure from USA via Europe can also be done.  Experience however tells us not to as clients have been dissatisfied with the option.

Please note when you travel with children up to 18 years, you usually need to have an unabridged birth certificate with you to enter any foreign country.  Please make sure from your Home Affairs office whether this is required.

On departure day please arrange your travel itinerary so that your flight departs at 12 noon from Polokwane, later departure will incur in a daily fee charge.
